2023 Australia Day Honour for Dr Roger Sexton

Dr Roger Sexton was made a Member of the Order (AM) for his tireless work, for over 30 years now, supporting his colleague's health and wellbeing through doctors' health programs. Firstly with Dr DOC at Rural Doctors Workforce Agency in the early 2000s, and currently as our Medical Director for Doctors' Health SA since 2010. As well initiating the establishment of Doctors' Health NT in 2016. These past 3 decades he has never given up on advocating for all doctors and medical students to enjoy a healthy professional career as a doctor, and for them to have access to care for themselves without barriers and stigma.

Roger has contributed as a director and member on a multitude of state and national boards and committees over the years, ensuring that the health of the medical workforce is a vital issue to be embedded in healthcare organisations not to be just an add-on. He continues this work with his recent re-appointment as Chair for the Australasian Doctors Health Network (ADHN), his expertise and wisdom supporting doctors' health services across Australia & New Zealand. Locally he is Editor of AMA(SA)'s Medic SA and on the GPEx Board.
